Lecture Series: Major Thomas Boude, Revolutionary War Hero, Associate of General Edward Hand, and The Origins of the Underground Railroad in Lancaster County and the U.S.

Randolph J. Harris will present a lecture on Major Thomas Boude (1752-1822), a war hero and national political figure, who thwarted the attempted kidnapping of a formerly enslaved woman at his home in 1804. A spontaneous, community-supported uprising against the institution of slavery, this flashpoint in Columbia - a community central to the African American experience – has been recognized as “the incorporation” of the movement that some three decades later became known as the Underground Railroad. May Fair Celebration

Celebrate the arrival of Spring at Rock Ford’s annual May Fair Celebration with a variety of craftsmen and vendors, 18th century entertainments, and dancing around the Maypole! All outdoor activities are free and open to the public and also weather permitting. Guided tours of the mansion will be on every half hour from 10 am until 3 pm. A light snack and beverage will be served. Children must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult. The suggested age range for Stories on the Porch is 3-7 years, but all are welcome. There is a suggested donation of $1 per child for this event.

Lecture Series: The Whiskey Rebellion

Yuletide Candlelight Tours

Beautiful music will fill the air, and dancing will take place in the first floor hallway. Bring your friends, family, and guests to celebrate the season during this popular annual event! $10 adults, $8 seniors (65+) and children 6-12, and free for children 5 and under. No reservations required. Admission is payable at the door.
